Two Weeks of Experience

Being in Firenze for two weeks now, I can definitely say I have had a broad range of experiences. Arriving in Firenze, the original apartment I was supposed to live in had some plumbing problems, so we were put in a different apartment immediately. It is a truly beautiful place, right around the block from the Duomo. I have a private bedroom and balcony, with a lovely view of the skyline.

Every day I have class from 9am - 2:30pm. After class we are free to do as we please, as well as on the weekend. To remember my time here and prove that I have studied in Italia, I purchased an FUA t-shirt, which is very comfortable! I also visited the FUA library where I found a whole section dedicated to graphic design as well as another for sustainability I was so giddy to see all the design books; I am quite jealous the students here have all these references easily accessible to them.

Some more great experiences I have had while here is all the delicious food I have been eating! I am trying to stay away from pasta and pizza and dessert everyday, but it is extremely hard! The second cannoli I had here has been the absolute best by far. It is from Gelateria dei Neri, up the street from FUA, and if you are in Firenze, you absolutely must try it! I also had the most incredible gelato here, at a gelateria where they make fresh gelato every morning, and boy is it tasty! Although I have not had too much pizza while here, I am still on the hunt for the best pizza around.

On the opposite side of all these positives, I have had my fair share of negative experiences while I have been here as well. The apartment, although nice to look at, is not up to standards. For one, the electricity goes out every night, which also turns our refrigerator off every night and spoils our food. My roommates and I have lost a lot of money due to the loss of groceries and it is extremely upsetting. Our hot water goes out as well; taking cold showers is not fun. We were also promised internet in our apartments and it is now the end of week 2 and we still have none while all the other apartments are fully equipped Due to all these inconveniences, the girls of my apartment and I will be moving into an apartment/dorm in 3 days. We are also being compensated for the food lost by getting one meal a day for the remaining days we are here, which is only fair.

Outdoor Summer Movies Series:

Temperatures are rising, beach blankets are out of storage and school busses are soon to stop their afternoon rounds. Here in Rhode Island, we spend our days flocking to beaches and parks and just about anywhere where we can kick up our heels and catch some sun.
